Welcome Back

Today is the last day of January, and a number of months since my last blog post. It's been a rather busy few months, but not with quilting. (sadly my sewing machine, did gather some dust).

I am in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy, and during the first few months, just getting the basics completed each day was an achievement.

As the weeks pass, my energy levels have improved, and I've been enjoying some quilting again.

So here is hoping, everybody has had a wonderful start to 2014.
I'm looking forward to blogging more regularly, and sharing my quilting ideas and designs.

Happy Quilting :)

Making Christmas Week 5 Blog Hop

Christmas is fast approaching, with only 5 and a bit weeks to go.
Today I visited Brisbane City, and it's definitely buzzing with Xmas cheer.
Santa has arrived in the department stores, and decorations are a plenty.

I love Christmas, and even more nowadays, as I have my own child to spoil.
We have also put up our Xmas tree (a little early I know) but I want to make the most of this celebration.

Our tree

I love decorations!
This is week 5 of the "Making Christmas" blog hop, and is being hosted by Soma from Whims and Fancies. She has shared a fantastic pencil case tutorial.

Below is my updated list.

My goal list to complete before December 25th include:

1. Windsor Lane Quilt (quilt top finished)

2. Simply Color Quilt (quilt top finished)

3. A Christmas Quilt (quilt top finished)

4. A Christmas stocking for my daughter "Grace"

5. Lucy's Crab Shack quilt (quilt top finished)

6. Scrumptious quilt for "Amy" my daughter's kindergarten teacher (quilt blocks started)

WIP Wednesday

Quilting Tops

"In From the Cold" by Kate Spain Quilt Top
The above photos are of my finished quilt tops. I have been working on these since late August, and really hope to have them completed by the New Year. Three of these quilts will become Xmas gifts.
It's been a really fun learning journey (learning about quilting), and I'm very pleased with
these works in progress.

I look forward to sharing my finished projects very soon.

Happy Quilting:)

Perfecting Perfection "In from The Cold" by Kate Spain

Tonight was the first night in what feels like a number of days that I did some sewing.
I have wanted to finish piecing my "In from the Cold" by Kate Spain Xmas
quilt top for well over a week now.

As this is my first ever HST quilt, I have had some little worries about alignment.
So as I began joining my rows together, I have encountered the following dilemma.

Quilting Blocks

What to do? Unpick and replace this block with a spare, or just let it go.

I think I will jump to the next rows and revisit this imperfection at the end.

Happy Quilting :)

Work In Progress Wednesday

Today, I wanted to show the progress of my Xmas quilt. It's really coming together nicely.
I was hoping to have the quilt top finished by Wednesday, but things don't always go to plan.
Below are some photos of this project layout on my design wall.

Design Layout

I will gift this quilt to my Mum. It will require a couple of borders to add size. This quilt, will be at the top of my quilts to finish list, once I can pick up my new sewing machine (Pfaff Ambition 1.0) hopefully next week.

Happy Quilting;)
